Methods On Keeping Water At Home Safe And Clean

It is very essential to ensure our safety especially on the water that we consume every day. Water plays a great part in our lives and there is never a time that we do not need it. That is why it should take an effort from us to make sure that we have the safest and cleanest water. And the safety should start in our own homes. Gone are the days that tap water and all the water we get from our natural resources are considered clean. We all know that because of our own neglects, the water can be polluted and contaminated.

However, there are certain ways on how to purify our water at home. These ways or methods are the purification by boiling, purification with the use of bleach, iodine tablet and water filtration systems. Boiling is considered to be the most recommended method of purification. It is also a very easy one as you will only need a pot, a fire and a container. Water is placed in the pot and boiled for three minutes, filter and remove some residues that float after boiling then store it in a container. Purification using bleach is advised to use with a professional’s consent because it requires chemicals that can be dangerous. Purification using iodine tablets is not recommended to people with thyroid problems.

Also, water resulting from the purification may have a strange taste and requires a powder drink mix for it to be tasty.  It is also very important to follow directions on measurements of tablets as wrong amount may cause some health hazards. There are also several in-house water filtration systems that can be used to purify drinking water. The most common ones are the Pour-through containers, faucet filters and whole-house systems. Pour-through containers are filters that are attached to the spout to strain particles and residues in the water. It is not a very safe method, though. Faucet filters are connected directly to faucets or under the sink to run the water over a ceramic screen to remove particles.

Some of the filter faucets alter the water’s taste because they are made from activated carbon. The whole-house system does not only purify drinking water but all water in the house. There are different types of technology used in this system such as Reverse Osmosis, Water Softeners and Distillers. It has not been known which technology is the most effective because distillation though can filter contaminants can also remove natural minerals and reverse osmosis uses three times as much water.

The Dangers Of Smoking In A Smoker’s Physical Appearance

It seems easy to spot a person who smokes from those who do not. Not only from the obvious evidence of cigarettes from their hands but also with the way they look and smell. Smoking cigarette certainly affects not only the major organs inside the body but also the physical appearance of the smoker. This is another major factor that every smoker should consider in order to pursue plans on quitting.

While most people are so vain on looking younger than their age, smokers are more likely to incline on the “older than their age” looking side. Smoking causes loose skin under the eyes and deep wrinkles; lines around the lips and dark-colored blotches.  It also causes sagging skin all over the body of smokers making them look older than their age. Smoking causes poor skin and uneven skin tone because oxygen and other nutrients are blocked by cigarette substances. Even though psoriasis is not mainly caused by smoking, smokers have high risk in developing one than those people who do not smoke.

The yellowing of teeth is the most common adverse physical effect smoking has. But in addition to that, gums are also damaged, breath becomes unpleasant, and teeth are usually falling off.  However, teeth are not only the part of the body that can be stained by nicotine but also the fingers and fingernails. Old age can actually become a factor of thinning hair but study shows that smoking can hurry this process. Some smokers can even get bald because of smoking. The precious organ eyes are not an exemption to parts of the body that can be damaged by smoking. It is believed that smoking can cause cataracts and blindness.

By quitting smoking, a smoker can mend and improve his over-all physical appearance. There will be better blood flow making the oxygen and other nutrients reach the skin and enhance its healthiness for a restored and fairer complexion. The yellow stains in the teeth and fingernails will somehow fade when no longer in contact with nicotine.

Aside from the damages in physical looks, smoking can also generate dangers in the reproductive health of both men and women. Smoking can affect fertility in women and erection and sperm count in men. During pregnancy, smoking can cause miscarriage, premature birth or defective and underweight infants. Smoking has more threats than rewards and there is no harm in quitting the habit. The real harm is staying hooked in it.

Nutrition For Dogs

It is not recommended to feed the dog table scraps in excess. Their normal diet gives them enough nutrients and supplements as it is. As in the case of humans, their diets should consist of a mix of proteins and carbohydrates, with added minerals and vitamins. Wild dogs can generally survive on a diet of raw meat from prey.

However, household pets must be kept on a nutritious diet. Food scraps from the dinner table generally consist of more fat than protein, a substance which can be toxic for dogs. Also, by feeding your dog with scraps as well, you over feed the dog which can lead to serious weight problems. Though dogs are less prone to arterial problems as compared to humans, obesity in dogs can lead to many other serious problems. These days, over 25 % of all dogs in the world are obese!

Feeding the dog scraps from the dinner table directly may also lead to unfavourable behavioural tendencies on the dog’s part. These include reaching up to take the food off the table, or begging the humans to feed them every time their owners sit down for a meal. Obesity can also lead to problems such as Cushing’s diseases.

Symptoms of this disease include increased appetite and weight gain, apart from lethargy in older dogs. A common trend that has started in households involves feeding the canine raw meats with bones. Sometimes, a small amount of filler material is also included. His is done to strengthen the canine’s digestive system.

how to get rid of lip wrinkles

Lip Wrinkles

When it comes to the various types of facial wrinkles, none can ruin your smile quite like lip wrinkles. Lip wrinkles completely change the tone and look of the face, causing embarrassment to many who have them. Unfortunately, wrinkles are a fact of life. They are caused most frequently by the natural aging process; a process we cannot stop.

Lip wrinkles are classified either as those occurring in the lips themselves or in the skin surrounding the mouth. Those that form in the surrounding skin begin at the base of the lips and travel up or down depending on the location. A person with excessive lip wrinkles can be hard to read emotionally because the wrinkles make it difficult to perceive facial expression.

Causes of Lip Wrinkles

As previously mentioned, the main cause of lip wrinkles is the natural aging process. However, there are other things we do that contribute to them. One good example is waxing of the upper lip. As unsightly as it may be for a woman to have hair on her upper lip, waxing is harmful to the skin and can even accelerate the onset of wrinkles. This is due to the fact that lip waxing stretches the skin violently as the wax is pulled away. This abnormal stretching is very likely to show up later in lines and wrinkles.

Another avoidable culprit in the formation of lip wrinkles is cigarette smoking. On the outside of the mouth, cigarette smoke dries out the skin and pollutes individual cells with carcinogens. This skin damage makes it harder for cells to be rejuvenated and re-energized during the sleep process. Cigarette smoking also makes it harder for the body to naturally exfoliate dead cells, especially around the mouth.

Furthermore, cigarette smoke depletes the body of vitamin C which then inhibits cell rebuilding, reduces the plumpness and firmness of the skin, and contributes to the loss of elasticity. Cigarette smokers are far more likely to develop lip wrinkles at an early age than non-smokers. Some scientists suggest that pursing the lips in order to smoke is another factor.

Preventing Lip Wrinkles

If you’re a smoker, the first thing you can do to prevent lip wrinkles is to quit smoking. Though it may sound remarkable, damage caused to the lungs and the skin by cigarette smoking can be healed by the body rather quickly. In fact, research shows that the body’s self-healing mechanisms begin to work on smoke damaged lungs and skin within 24 hours of quitting. Thirty days later some people don’t even exhibit any signs that they ever smoked.

Avoiding lip waxing, using lip balm in cold weather, avoiding long-term sun exposure, and maintaining a healthy diet are all things you can do to help reduce the onset of lip wrinkles. Topical creams which include collagen and vitamin C as key ingredients are another treatment method that works well. The combination of all these things should be enough for most people to prevent lip wrinkles from coming on prematurely.

How to Treat Depression without Medication

Treat Depression Without Medication

Many people suffering from depression are reluctant to seek treatment through antidepressants and psychotherapy. Personally, I was one of those people, but eventually realized that there was no harm in seeing a mental health professional and getting an opinion. While you should definitely not attempt to diagnose yourself and choose a treatment plan, there are a number of things you can do that can help treat depression without medication. Even if you are currently taking antidepressants, following this guide will help make symptoms less severe. The main goal here is to make lifestyle changes, ones that can range from your eating habits, sleeping patterns, and so forth.

Treating Depression Without Medication

The first thing is exercise – If you want to help treat depression without medication, you need to begin exercising regularly. Now, walking from your car to your house in itself is not exercise. You really need to come up with an exercise schedule and begin following it regularly. Any sort of exercise will do; soccer, jogging, swimming, speed walking. Pick something you enjoy so the routine doesn’t bore you after a weeks. Exercising regularly can greatly improve your mood and help relieve stress.

Setting goals – This is a great way to motivate yourself, and get a great moral boost. They don’t need to be huge goals, or anything of that sort. Even the smallest goals, when accomplished, can make all the difference. This is one of the most effective ways to treat depression without medication. A lot of depression has to do with low self-confidence, and setting goals like these, and achieving them, can really be a big confidence booster.

Eating healthy – Bad eating habits can increase the severity of depression. Bad eating habits include eating junk food, greasy foods; shortly put, anything that isn’t healthy. Why? Those typescause your sugar level to increase rapidly, and then decrease rapidly which is the “crashing” phase. In other words, you may be in a good mood for a short period of time, followed by a crash into a horrible mood. This can really mess around with the stability of your mind. It’s important to eat healthy if you want to try to treat depression without medication. Healthy foods include lean meats and carbohydrates, and try to avoid sugary drinks (soft drinks, coffee, etc.). It is often difficult to give up these types of foods and drinks at first, but within a couple of weeks, the symptoms will be a lot less severe. Caffeine is a severe problem for those suffering from depression, as again, it can cause their mood to fluctuate grealty.

Relax – It’s easy to let life’s troubles stack up and stress you out, but don’t let this happen. Set some time every day to relax and have some personal time for yourself. Relaxing is essential to treating depression without medication. Stress only makes matters worse. Be it a trip out to the movies, or a nice day long hike, it’s important to set aside time to relax. Relaxation is essential to treating depression without medication. Stress only makes matters worse.

Adequate Sleep – Getting adequate sleep every night is extremely important in order to treat depression naturally. Generally speaking, 7 hours of sleep is fine, but depending on the severity of your depression, it may be a good idea to get a little more sleep every night. If you do not get enough sleep, your symptoms will only grow worse throughout the day. Now, if you have trouble sleeping at night, as do many with depression, try to figure out what helps you fall asleep at night. It might be listening to some classical music while laying in bed, or having a nice hot bath. Just find what works best for you, and stick to the routine.

Vitamins – Additionally, it is a good idea to begin supplementing yourself with vitamins. The majority of people do not get the required daily vitamin intake, nd for those suffering from depression, this can only increase the severity of symptoms.

Dealing with depression can be difficult, no doubt about it. Whether or not you’re taking medication, taking steps to treat depression without medication can only make your situation better. The above are great starting points, and though it may be difficult to change your routine, it’s a must if you want to effectively battle your case of depression.
